• Sewer pipelines’ construction budget: 6-8m€/year. • Length of sewer pipeline system: 800 – 1300 km.• Need for additional capacity: +20-30%
• No room for WWTP expansion• WWTP is located in prime spot.• Pressure to take in industrial waste waters• Sludge transportation cost is unbearable
Corrosion caused by sulfuric acids has shorten the lifetime of concrete sewer pipeline to 1/5. Lifetime of electronic device can shorten to ¼. (EPA, Hydrogen sulfide corrosion: Its Consequences, Detection and Control, 1991).

In MBR process, Membrane Units are installed in aeration Tank to filtrate water from activated sludge.
MBR halves the Hydraulic Retention Time compared to Conventional Activated Sludge system (CAS).
