Suggestions and Comments from our Colleges • The Region 6 provided by the OEJTA was very knowledgeable and helpful.

• OEJTA should hear community concerns more and equally listen to community ideas.

• The OEJTA needs to stay more informed and have a process to get more community voices involved. This office has very little influence over other departments in Region 6. Not sure what you bring to the table.

• Although staff are professional, they do not possess technical skill dealing with their agreements. This creates undue effort on the recipient when (tribes) when they have to educate staff and demonstrate directives are consistent with policies, terminologies, and strategies of their employer (EPA).

• If EPA staff are responsible for working with tribes, they need to learn about tribes. Knowing we’re “different” is not the same as knowing us and we are not all the same.

• From an Environmental Director’s position I feel if the OEJTA could visit in person the tribal to receive a true perspective of the nations within Region 6 and the obstacles the tribes face. That could help with the communication barrier and environmental changes that are taking place within the tribal nations.

• Be more responsive to tribal needs.
