Spiral Collage From Single Image User Guide There are only few things you should know before start using actions:

You must have only one (1) layer in Layers panel and it must be Background.

Actions will give you best result with proper aspect ratio (proportions: Width versus Height). Crop vertical images to 5x7 ratio: 500x700px, 1500x2100px... or simply use 5x7 ration for Crop Tool and do not worry about pixel dimensions and resolution. When using actions with horizontally oriented images crop them to 3x2 ratio: 900x600px, 1500x1000px... or simply choose 3x2(6x4) ratio for Crop tool and crop image without to worry about pixel dimensions and resolution.

Load ActionsTo load actions first display Actions panel from Window > Actions. Click on Actions panel menu and choose Load Actions. Navigate to Spiral Collage From Single Image.atn file and double click on it.

Crop Image to Proper RatioBefore running any action ensure that you have only one (1) layer in Layers panel: Background. For best results crop image to 5x7 (vertical images) or 3x2 (horizontaly oriented images) ratio. There are actions which works for vertical or horiyontal images only and thats easy to understand: if action have 5x7 in name then it is for verticaly oriented images. To crop image to proper ratio first select Crop Tool then choose 5x7 or 3x2(6x4) from drop-down list in Options bar.

Change Pixel Dimensions and ResolutionAfter cropping image to proper aspect ratio you can change pixel dimensions and resolution from Image > Image Size.

Play ActionTo play action select it in Actions panel then click Play button at the bottom. For vertically oriented images play actions with 5x7 in name. For horizontaly oriented images play actions with 3x2 in name.

Actions IndexAfter loading actions you will see total of 13 actions. Here I will list and explain what each of actions is doing.

• Actions which names starts with Vertical or Horizontal are actually creating effect. Play this actions with Background layer only in document and ensure image have proper aspect ratio: 5x7 or 3x2 what is indicated in action name.

• Reverse Layers will reverse order of layers or pieces which are creating effect what will give you different look of effect. Play this action after creating effect and without any extra layers added because it may make mess in your Layers panel.

• Scale Styles is action to scale Layer Effects: Inner Glow, Outer Glow and Drop Shadow which are included in final effect and part of action. At the end of action you will see Layer Style dialog where you can adjust setting for all three effects but I believe it is easier to accept defaults by clicking OK and later to scale them. Run this action after creating effect (after running any of first 9 actions listed) and without any extra layers created.

• Delete Layers action is handy if you want different effect of already created. Run this action to delete all layers beside Background layer from Layes panel. Do not run actions which creates effect (first 9 actions listed) one after another without deleting layers - leave only Background layer.

• New From Background action is creating new document by duplicating Background layer. This action is handy if you want to create several effect and to compare them. As already mentioned run first 9 actions with Background layer only in Layers panel and do not forget aspect ratio for best possible results.
