Companywide cost reduction with bring your own device (BYOD), the risks and
drivers behind.
"Bring Your Own Device" is on the wish list of many Employees and therefore also on
the agenda of many CIOs. The presentation will deliver an overall view of the
opportunities and risks involved with BYOD in addition to bring transparency to this
hot topic.
CEO, CIO, CTO, Security Officer (CSO, CISO), Risk and Compliance Managers. It is a
jargon free non- technical presentation for forward- thinking decision makers and
executives to educate on an inevitable topic with a strategic angle.
The basics around Bring Your Own Device (BYOD. What are the drivers, risks and
opportunities behind BYOD. How can the principles inside the presentation be
applied to my own organization?
Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is a simple concept: the employees bring their own
equipment to work and get access to the appropriate resources. Modern companies are
trying constantly to offer their employees a more stimulating and more attractive working
environment. For the younger generation a high mobility and flexibility is standard. This can
boost employee satisfaction while simultaneously reducing IT equipment acquisition and
device management costs. BYOD programs are increasingly being extended – both in the
breadth of devices and in connectivity to the corporate infrastructure – which in turn gives
rise to new security and management challenges for corporate IT.
Who has not been there himself: bringing the “gadget of the day” to work and expect it to
function. The Technology and productivity gap between personal devices and company IT
infrastructure is a significant driving factor for employees demanding BYOD solutions. This
has resulted in what many are calling the “consumerization” of IT, where users expect their
device will work regardless of brand or make.
Efficient and effective workflows and processes are necessary to minimize the support cost
and workload for corporate IT. This would enable IT to focus on other tasks and strategic
initiatives.
There are specific security concerns around the co-existence of private data and sensitive
corporate data on the employee owned devices. Many CIOs and Security Officers will have
to take up the challenge of "private" mobile devices inside the business environment.
