DESCRIPTION

This course will demonstrate the integrated modeling environment for Part modeling. Users will be exposed to the concepts of how the two distinct modeling systems work together in a single part file. Integrated modeling proposes new ways of design and this class will explore these advances. Synchronous users that attend this class will learn about the powerful Ordered features and when to use them. Traditional users will be exposed to the Synchronous environments so that they may understand when to convert their systems, models, or features to the new paradigm.- Pure Models / Integrated Models- Live Sections and Sketches- Transform to Synchronous- Surfacing Solutions

Definitions

Developer / Planner Speak

Common vocabulary for communication

Just like any industry

New elements added daily

New Product = New Language

Synchronous and Ordered specificity

Duplicity of commands requires new distinction

Creation and manipulation

Definitions

Creation = Model Genesis

Where did it come from??

Created by feature

Feature Library entry

Insert Part Copy or Inter-Part Copy

Adding a Feature

Synchronous = Face Sets

Ordered = Features

Copy of Elements

Still it is Creation...

Definitions

Common Model Manipulations

Any time a model is edited….

Move / Rotate via Steering Wheel

Dimension Edit

Cut / Delete

Detach / Attach

Live Rules

Editing is Feature Oriented

Unique from manipulation

Altering the attributes that define the procedure

Part Features

Face Sets for most features

Manipulated by Live Rules

Holes and helixes are rigid

Edit the feature

Pattern features

Both rigid and adaptable

Sheet Metal Deformed Features

Typically rigid in Sheet Metal

May be manipulated as a rigid chunk

Native feature can be edited to alter profile or attributes

Synchronous Features

Ordered Features

Part Features

Any model element with enough intelligence to rebuild itself

Requires existing model geometry before application

Some features equipped with a Feature Origin

Holes

Helix

Patterns

Sheet Metal Deformed Features

Dimples

Drawn Cutouts

Beads

Synchronous Procedural Features

Feature Origin

An associative model element that keeps the feature on the model face

Known as the “the Nail” during development

The handle for the feature

Stays with the feature

May be re-assigned to another face

and even another model

Synchronous element

Cross Mode Modeling

Fully Synchronous model

Both modes are used

Feature has a parent in the Synchronous mode

Common Use Cases

Surfacing

Blank part sizing

Lofted Flanges

Recycling Geometry

Synchronous Modeling supports re-use

Why model again if the shape or part is already in use?

Copy during a Move command

Copy / Paste a feature from another model

Drag in an element from Feature Library
