IntroductionIntroductionThis paper is one part of the dissertation development research project on the

Solar Thermal Dish Stirling system for a 10 kW power plant with lead acid battery storage, named “Siam Solar Dish I” research project.

The purpose of this research project activities is to select reflectors which are suitable for Concentrating Solar Power in Thailand.

The good solar reflectors must have the following characteristics.1. Light weight2. Durable for wind, moisture, deflection, high and low temperature.3. Low construction cost, less than 500 B/m2 or 12.5 $/m2 (1 US $ = 40 Baht

March, 2005).4. Low reflector cost, less than 20 B/m2 or 0.5 $/m2 (1 US $ = 40 Baht March,

2005).5. Flexible.6. Low reflection loss.7. Reflect more than 90 % in wavelength 700 to 1000 nm.8. Easy to clean.9. High impact not easy to break.

10. Life more than 30 years.11. Ultra violet resists.

Summary

1. The purpose of this research is to select reflectors which are suitable for Thailand of Energy Concentrating Solar Power Program.

2. The goals are specula reflectance above 90 % for at least 10 years under outdoor service conditions and a large volume manufacturing cost of solar reflector structure less than 500 B/m2 (12.5 $/m2 )or reflector material only less than 20 B/m2 ($ 0.75 /m2).

3. The best candidate materials for Thailand such as MIRO-SUN should fit for Thailand environment and conditions.
