Social Media Success:Define Your Goals
- Create Engagement?
- Event Promotion?
- Become A Resource?
- All of the above?
Who is your audience?
Where is your audience engaging online?
What information or news do you want to give to your audience?
Are you prepared to give time to engaging your audience online? - Time/Budget - Man Power - Dedication/Consistency
Deciding Where To Focus Efforts:Listen First
- Understanding your audience is crucial to effective marketing!
- Get involved in the conversation & listen to what people are saying about your organization or your organization's focus.
- Don't just join a social network because you want to, join it because your audience is there!
DO YOUR HOMEWORK!
- Research trends that are happening in your community, or other organizations similar to you! - Reach out to fellow non-profits and find out what they're doing, and how you can be involved, too!
- Ask your existing audience, clients, sponsors, & supporters what they like, don't like or want more of from your organization! **** Give them an incentive -- if you can offer them a ticket to the next big event, etc. Do it!

The demographic of your fans may be different than those who actually interact. This will help you deliver relevant info from your organization.
Why Insights MatterMaking effective decisions based on your page's data.

"Don't get discouraged when people don't comment, look at your page views & be consistent! Don't ever assume that people aren't paying attention to what you are saying just because you don't get a response, some people just stop by to take a look and that's great marketing, too!"
"One thing I wish we had done: I wish we had taken time to really develop a strategy with outcomes before we started posting everything, we have now re-focused our efforts with goals in mind, and with these goals we have grown our presence online." "We use Twitter in a completely different way that we use Facebook, Twitter we use to create brand awareness & share interesting article, and they aren't always our articles!
