SMYTH DIGITALINE

The New DIGITALINE is a completely Integrated Production System of Digitally Printed Books, which combines Folding, Inserting and Thread Sewing. Increased efficiency is achieved through the new Folding Unit, which feeds Digital Sheets directly into the patented Smyth Automatic Sewer.

The CROSS KNIFE FOLDER in line with the Smyth folding machine is supplied completed of Inserting station + (1) cross knife folder with the possibility to install a 2° cross knife (ITALIAN PATENT PENDING TO 2010 A 000889 - EUROPEAN PATENT PENDING EP 10190340 ) to prepare the signature to be sewn in line with an F145 or F1804D automatic thread book sewer.

CROSS KNIFE FOLDER + SMYTH SEWER F145 The CROSS KNIFE FOLDING unit benefits from two parallel fold possibilities to insert (4), (6) and (8) page sheets. The electronic knife is able to make one cross fold (4) ,(6) or (8 )page sheets and transfer the inserted sheets onto the sewing machine saddle. The signatures are transferred via an Indexing System onto the mobile saddle ( ITALIAN PATENT PENDING TO 2010 A 000889 - EUROPEAN PATENT PENDING EP 10190340 ) to form the complete book.

This (PATENT PENDING TO 2010 A 000889 - EUROPEAN PATENT PENDING EP 10190340 ) configuration offers the possibility to use the Signature feeder to insert pre-folded signatures or (4) page signatures in the production of digital books.


To reinforce the high flexibility of the system, the Smyth F145 thread book sewing machine can be used as STANDARD BOOK SEWING MACHINE loaded with pre-folded, pre-gathered signatures as off-line solution. This possibility provides further flexibility and greater production capabilities.

The high level of flexibility of the system gives the opportunity to run SIMULTANEOUSLY both the gathering and sewing line UNIT, producing traditional sewn book blocks composed of traditional signatures, and the DIGITALINE to process digitally printed signatures to be Smyth sewn or glued off line.
