Big Data

8/29/2013 ©2012 Intergraph Corporation 4

2.5 quintillion bytes of data created everyday

Data from social media, digital pictures, mobile phones with

GPS signals

In Geo we have been used to biggish data for a while and

stepped up to catalogue and manage it.

Now we need to be able to take advantage of the toolsets

capability but at the same time make these tools readily

available.

Data flows and security of data management is increasing.

With increased capacity and resilience and reduction in cost many SME’s can now access the

same computing power as was the preserve

Tools can work on connected or disconnected networks now

It is the time of the Web Client

GeoMedia® Smart Client - Administrator

• Administrator is designed for managing enterprise projects from smaller municipalities up

to large scale geospatial SaaS providers.

• Initial project set-up of the map content can be taken (via GM Library) from GeoMedia or

GeoMedia Pro.

• Administrator is a web based application using the WorkFlow Manager framework!

• ORACLE or SQL Server is required for storage of the administrative- and meta-data.

• Definition and management of:

Projects

Live or cache status of feature classes

Settings for tiling and cache update

Queries and analyzes

User & rights for map content, functions, queries,….

Print layouts

Active Directory and LDAP integration

Statistics (LogIn, queries, printing,…)

WorkFlow Manager

Page 23: Smart Client Smart Applications_Ciaran Kirk - Intergraph Geospatial World Tour 2013

Workflow Manager (WFM)

1.Configure geospatial processes (“workflow trees”) based on XML files

2.Define automatic validation and conditions for each workflow node

3.Drive (remote control) the Smart Client (map content, area, scale, functions,....)

4.Define forms (for queries, analysis, editing, reports, etc.) using XML files including text

boxes, check boxes, drop-down lists, context-based help, ...

5.Examinations of the inputs or requirement of mandatory fields and pick lists

6.Integrate external applications on the server side

7.Define workflow steps and forms based on user- & rights-management

including connection to Active Directory or LDAP

8.Monitor, control and execute asynchronous (decoupled) processes like server-side map

production, data import, export & supply for downloads,….

9.Server: based on Microsoft. NET WebServices (WCF = Windows Communication

Foundation)

10.Client: HTML based - IE, Firefox,… or Java “integrated” Browser (WebKit)

Page 24: Smart Client Smart Applications_Ciaran Kirk - Intergraph Geospatial World Tour 2013

Smart Client Planning and Property Demonstration

Page 25: Smart Client Smart Applications_Ciaran Kirk - Intergraph Geospatial World Tour 2013

1.Supports vector and raster data on the client side

2.Very fast, intelligent geo-data caching & tiling (raster and vector) in use since 1999

3.Modern map control for navigation & smooth (Google maps like) map loading

4.No 3rd party dependencies on software, browser or operating system

5.GeoMedia Smart Client can work offline - for mobile tasks or if connectivity is lost

6.Capture, edit, redline, measure, server and client-side queries, bookmarks,…

7.Advanced printing on the client side (including rotated views and up-to A0)

8.Workflow Manager (including Form-Generator and Task-Dispatcher) to handle complex

processes step-by-step (“rapid” project configuration and implementation)

9.Proven interfaces to integrate Smart Client with other web- or desktop applications

10.High-level enterprise administration for users, roles, rights, functions, projects, etc…
