SI P Business Trunking Signaling Model
ISDN LikeSignaling is decoupled by IP-PBX and Media isanchored by the IP-PBX using a MediaTermination Function to emulate a PBXbehaviour
Pure SIPSignaling goes peer-to-peer between IP-PBXs
HierarchicSignaling between IP-PBXs is manipulated by a centralized harm onizat ion funct ion (HF) that can also anchor the media

SI P Business Trunking - User Plane Models
Fixed Media RTP is anchored by IP-PBXThe core network it is not affected by mediachanging related to services invocationIP-PBX needs a Media Termination Function toperform media anchoration
Variable Media RTP is peer-to-peerThe core network must manage all the RTP negotiatons due to user services invocationIP-PBX can implement various type of services and use several types of codecs

I TU Standardizat ion vs I DAD
The strengthening of the standards is the main way to go forward for multi-vendor interoperable solutions, but it s a must also consider the presence of several small/medium players that perform customization to provide services.
I DAD is the t rade-off between t im e to m arket and standardizat ion.
