Key Assignment 2 Problem Definition: There is a tug pulls the tankers at the port. There is only one tug at the port. The condition for all the tug activities are given as per in the assignment. The condition for the storm is also as given in the assignment and what the tug does in the event of the storm is described. The goal is to find out the time for which the tug is idle, travelling without tankerad engaged in either berthing or deberthing activity. Project Planning: For building the simulation software we have been given the management support from the company for whom the project is been built. It is been given that the company understands that is the project planning is one of the most important steps in building a simulation model. The computer hardware has been provided and the software support also has been provided in the form of WITNESS 2008. Also one of the most important concepts of project planning is the communication channel; also we have to make sure that we provide nice response to the clients. Key Assignment 2

Problem Definition:

There is a tug pulls the tankers at the port.

Project Planning:

For building the simulation software we have been given the management support from the company for whom the project is been built.

System Definition:

The system boundary for this assignment has been given as the nine trucks and three shovels, eight buffers and a crusher.

Conceptual Model Formulation:

In order to develop a preliminary model we have represented in a graphical method with the suitable pseudo-code, which determines the components, variables and interactions. With this preliminary model we can develop alternate models. We must make sure that the large system must be broken down into a reduced model complexity.

Preliminary Experimental Design:

First we must select the performance measure of the system which consists of several varied factors.

Since our system is small we needn’t worry about the variations involved in the system. The prime plus point with these steps we can plan the model with desired data more efficiently and effectively.

Input data preparation:

The input data of the model is analyzed in from the below motioned table.

Type Relative Freq Loading Time,Hours

1 0.25 18±2

2 0.25 24±3

3 0.50 36±4

Verification and Validation:

We see that the tug is 27.10% busy and M1, M2, M3 are almost busy for equal amount of time, and also we see that the system is not blocked at any stage of time, so we can say that the system is correct.

Final Experimentation Design

The design of the experiment determines the analysis that can be applied to the results. We can see that the experiment’s success in answering the questions being asked of the model is a core function of the correct experimental design.

Experimentation:

We need to run the model for 480 minutes, so we need to make the experimentation of the model carefully so as to make sure that the data is not lost.

Analysis and Interpretation:

From the outputs of the simulation in this phase, we have studied various cases. But since the size of the system is small, the chance of making changes to study various cases is also very small.

Documentation and Implementation:

This project is said to be complete only when the outcomes of the given scenario is well understood and accepted. We need to have proper documentation work to make it more clear and comprehendable.
