Technology is breathing new life in the bricks and mortar retail experience. Consumer behaviour is evolving and retailers must adapt for the digitally minded customers and provide experiences that encompass the best of technology and in-store experiences to create something that is truly memorable or even magical.

The case study that I will talk about is Bang & Olufsen.

Brands are putting a greater focus on the the experience in stores, in order to deliver more compelling, tangible experiences. High-end & Luxury brands need to utilise their network of stores to ensure today and tomorrows customers have access to the innovative, multi-sensory experiences so that their visits feel purposeful and beneficial. By doing so, brands will be able to deliver a truly unique experience, securing not just a sale, but a relationship with longevity.

In order to enhance our in-store experience and offer interesting ways to explore the brand we partnered with ViewAR.

Procurement analysed top providers in the AR industry and I met with a selection of possible partners and it was ViewAR that I felt could deliver those enduring magical experiences.

Augmented reality (AR) is a driving force in the evolution of the retail experience. AR technology takes the customers journey to the next level by bridging the imagination gap and letting consumers visualise products in their lives.

The outcome of our partnership was the BeoHome Design App

The BeoHome Design App allows Bang & Olufsen stores to demonstrate to customers how our products would look like in their home.

The app lets customers digitally visualize the different Bang & Olufsen products in any given space, Through both Ar and VR technology.You can choose between all the different speakers, sound systems and televisions and place them wherever the camera on your iPad is pointing. You can easily change colours on the speaker fronts, shift brackets and stands on the televisions and do all the customizations needed to get exactly what fits your home.

THE VISUALIZATION FEATURE

Using the visualization application is both fast and simple:

- Set a marker- Freeze a frame or use the live mode- Add product/s

Once you have completed the initial steps you get a picture of your space including the Bang & Olufsen product/s and then you can configure the product/s according to your preferences.You can easily change colours on the speaker fronts, shift brackets and stands on the televisions, and do all the customizations needed to get exactly what fits your home.

THE ROOMBUILDER FEATURE

You can also use the Room Builder feature where you select, and customize predefined floor plans and shapes, and subsequently add products and furniture.This gives you a clearer idea on what to expect when adding Bang & Olufsen to a room especially because the feature also lets you add and move furniture around the augmented reality.Only your imagination sets boundaries.

Having the duality has been vital. The room builder function wasnt the key driver in creating the app but it is actual the feature that utlisied the most 10%. Using google analytics, you can gather real time information one where customers are spending most tie in the application and what what are the most popular products being viewed. We can also map out how people are designing their system and the average amount of products being included in each project.

EXPERIENCE THE REAL DEAL

Once you have pinpointed your desires using the BeoHome app you can find the nearest Bang & Olufsen store and send them your images and drawings. This way theyre perfectly prepared for when you go to the store to experience the real deal.

STAFF/CUSTOMERS LOVE IT Used 10% more it enhances the in-store experience in particular as it brings the conversations we are having with the customer to life.

CREATIVE INPUT BUILDS EMOTION IN THE PURCHASE Our customers are more engaged and appreciate the extra level of detail.

DATA CAPTURE IN-STORE we capture our customers email to share projects and create proposals.
