DESCRIPTION

Part 2 of III: An innovative technology from Bishop-Wisecarver has effectively changed the face of curvilinear track design possibilities. Part of the highly successful HepcoMotion PRT2 family of products, the new and patent pending 1-Trak product allows track systems to be manufactured in almost any conceivable 2D shape and from one single piece of material.

NEW! PRT2 1-TRAK

1-Trak extends the capability of PRT2

Patent pending design with three key innovations:Create almost any 2D shape of track in one piece(within the maximum size limits and minimum bend radii)

Three-bearing geometry allows a carriage to run around any 2D shape of track

Available with or without gear drive

1-TRAK APPROACH TO DRIVING BY GEARS

The pinion in a fixed position on the carriage, and the pitch line of the gear follows the 1-Trak path

GEAR DRIVEN 1-TRAK SYSTEMS

Gear teeth are surface hardened high tensile steel: same as the slide vees

Driving forces and durability are excellent

Making these gears is difficult: pitch line follows a complex path, and the shape of the teeth changes with path curvature

Utilize dedicated CAM system to generate gear profiles for any track system and any pinion position

GEAR DRIVEN 1-TRAK SYSTEMS

When the driving pinion is located off-center, the path of the gear becomes more complex and asymmetrical

There will be no problem for the new CAM system

1-TRAK GEAR OPTION

The production method works best with gears of MOD3 or larger with the following tooth widths:

MOD3 up to 12mm wide

MOD5 up to 20mm wide

MOD8 up to 32mm wide

MOD10 up to 40mm wide

The most suitable Hepco pinions are in the HDS2 catalogue

We also now have a MOD8 stock pinion for use with HDRE1656G8: HP8X17

1-TRAK GEAR OPTION

Detailed gear drive calculations will need to be referred to an Applications Engineer

For provisional sizing:Use HDS2 figures pro-rated for width, and then add 50% due to higher specification of gear teeth

1-TRAK GEAR OPTION

The shape of the gears on the track will be defined if the pinion size (MOD and number of teeth) is defined, along with the location of its center on the carriage Ensure that there is enough space to accommodate the pinion — remember that in designs where the pinion is away from the carriage center, the gear pitch line will deviate a long way from the track vees

1-TRAK GEAR OPTION

Specify either a gearbox or a drive flange assembly(for example from HDS2 catalog) Lubrication is essential

In some cases it will be possible to use HDS2 automatic rack lubrication method, directly onto the pinion

PRT2 TRACKS VIA 1-TRAK ROUTE

It is possible to have the benefits of 1-Trak construction, e.g. one-piece, integral base plate and structural strength, but using the standard PRT2 track shapes and FCC or BCP carriages(which are stronger than three-bearing carriages)

Just specify the track system using the standard PRT2 method, state “made via 1-Trak route”, and then provide a sketch to show relevant base plate and customization details

PRT2 TRACKS VIA 1-TRAK ROUTE

The 1-Trak approach may also be used on more complex systems DTS could be made via this construction DTS2 also possible
