Atlas

Atlas is a bipedal humanoid robot primarily developed by the American robotics company Boston Dynamics. Revealed to public on July 11, 2013 the robot is designed for a variety of search and rescue tasks. They are designed to operate in environments where humans can not survive and to perform tasks such as shutting off valves, opening doors, operating powered equipment. Atlas is constructed of aircraft-grade aluminum and titanium, it stands 6 feet tall and weights 330 pounds with illuminated blue LEDs.

Terrafugia Transision

The Terrafugia Transition is the first road-and-sky-worthy flying car introduced to public in 2013. It basically is a plan with wings that fold up. Terrafugia only needs 100 feet of runway to take off and its 23-gallon tank is good for around 4-hour-flight. It is expected to be on sale in 2015 or 2016 with a price of $280,000. This takes us a step closer to a vertical-takeoff-and-landing flying car.

Voyager 1

Voyager 1 is the first made-man spacecraft to enter interstellar space. It is 722-kilogram space probe launched by NASA on September 5, 1977 to study outer Solar System. It took 27 years to Voyager 1 to cross the Solar System.

Dua’s Layer

It is easy to assume that after centuries of research we already know everything about human anatomy. Yet a new type of tissue was found in the eye by a professor of ophthalmology and visual science at the University of Nottingham Harminder Singh Dua. The tissue was named Dua's layer. It sits at the back of cornea, the structure in the eye that helps focus light.

We are not alone

After studying four years of data from NASA's orbiting Kepler telescope astronomers calculated at least 8.8 billion Earth-like planets in Milky Way alone. The planets are about the size of Earth, orbit starts just like our sun and exist in the Goldilocks zone- perfect temperature for life. The closest planet is 12 light-year away.
