One quick solution for the IT staff would have been to lease an Internet connection with a higher bandwidth. Therefore, the MIS manager searched for a cost-effective solution and learned about Sangfor’s Internet Access Management (IAM) product at a reseller event. Solution: Sangfor IAM manages network utilization The Sangfor team recommended the Sangfor IAM to Unified Care Services to monitor and manage its bandwidth utilization. The Sangfor IAM increased the productivity by guaranteeing bandwidth allocation for critical applications while limiting the nonessential traffic and overconsumption of bandwidth for each user. During the proof of concept (POC) at the Torrance clinic, the IT department of Unified Care Services saw a substantial increase in performance of critical applications and received no further complaints about slow Internet from the end users. But when the IAM appliance was removed, the old problems returned, and end users started complaining again. The IAM solution was able to identify that even with a bandwidth upgrade, a single user could consume over 90% of the total bandwidth with Torrent type tools and watching YouTube HD videos, leaving limited bandwidth for the other users working on critical applications. “It is was revealing that one user consumed most of the Internet bandwidth at that location. It was not necessary to upgrade the bandwidth after Sangfor’s IAM solution solved the problem,” said Diaz.
