BACKGROUND

• As a proven leader in innovation, Samsung once again revolutionized the way consumers interact with mobile devices, in the first quarter of 2014, by introducing the Gear Fit. Paired with the Galaxy S5, the Gear Fit intelligently connects and shares information and content between the two devices. Gear Fit was designed with health and wellness in mind, so users can stay connected while maintaining their active lifestyles. The Gear Fit tracks steps, monitors heart rate on the go, and provides notifications of incoming calls, texts and emails.

• The Galaxy S5 delivers a viewing experience with an adaptive Full HD Super AMOLED display with rich colors, darker blacks and faster response times for clearer high speed content. The new camera features and simplified controls, paired with the 16 megapixel rear-facing camera, elevate the photo-taking experience. The Galaxy S5 has the world’s first built-in heart rate monitor (HRM), which provides real time data before and after exercise by placing a finger on a sensor by the rear-facing camera.

• Samsung’s latest innovations, the Galaxy S5, Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit were available in the U.S. as of April 2014.

OBJECTIVES

• Introduce the Galaxy S5 & Gear Fit to the Hispanic media

•Create awareness about the launch and availability of the Galaxy S5 & Gear Fit nationally, and in key Hispanic markets

•Pitch launch, functionality and availability of Galaxy S5 & Gear Fit, to secure media interviews and coverage

ASSIGNMENT

•Provide Hispanic media support and outreach to Samsung Media Relations team for launch of Galaxy S5 and Gear Fit

•Secure hyper-local Hispanic media coverage highlighting launch, functionality and availability of Galaxy S5 and Gear Fit

ANALYSIS & RESULTS

•The goal for the media outreach campaign was to create awareness and secure media coverage for the launch and availability of the Galaxy S5 and Gear Fit nationally and in key Hispanic markets. Broadcast, print, online and social media coverage was secured to promote all products.

•Media efforts secured not only hyper-local but also national and international media, creating widespread awareness about Galaxy S5 and Gear Fit availability and functionality. English- and Spanish-speaking Samsung spokespersons were utilized for media interviews. Galaxy S5 and Gear Fit devices were seeded with media for review and coverage opportunities.

•Added value social media mentions garnered 1.1 million impressions across social media networks.
