Hi, I’m Jeff Philosophy at Western 5 years with Don Tapscott Now at T4G Limited Writing Stop Wasting Money on Advertising
Goals for tonight:
Talk about companies
Share some cool stories
Do a thought experiment
Some companies are really stupid.
stupid = core assumption is inconsistent with reality
Badges are awesome Cheapskates are profitable People buy albums
Nielsen ratings matter Evil is acceptable It’s still 2004
not stupid = core assumption is consistent with reality
We trust foodies Every penny counts People like music
People like fun User experience matters Netflix makes sense
The world and market are moving faster than ever.
Stupid ideas and companies will get knocked out quickly.
What are some good assumptions
(about mobile)?
Is this mobile?
Way more data Shrinking devices
Wireless everywhere More sensors in device
More sensors everywhere Storage is incredibly cheap
Any data can be bought/sold Individual identification is easy
Government has virtually no clue
What can be done?
You can know your customers better than they know themselves.
Thought experiment: What can you do?
+ + +
+ + +
+ + +
Is this all good?
What data rights are there?
Should we exploit this data?
Where’s the line?
What’s not stupid?
