people (users) and robots. HRI is multidisciplinary with contributions from the fields of human-computer interaction, artificial intelligence, robotics, natural language understanding, and social science (psychology, cognitive science, anthropology, and human factors).

Advantages- Generalities

Technology may help to save staff work time.

Robots imitate the work of humans, so the owners of business may save money of salaries.

Turning to robots makes economic sense. Robots might be able to do things that

humans cannot do. For example carrying certain heavy products. This might help humans in everyday activities.

Advantages of robots attending ederly Might be cheaper. Its almost impossible that the robots

gets confused and gives the wrong doses of medicine or the wrong medicine to the patient

Accurate giving of treatments

More advantages..- Artificial Pets They are not as messy as real pets. For example they might be

programmed not to bite shoes. In addition the pets might be much

more clean They will not produce excretion

(making it easier for the owner as they wont have to clean after the pet)

Artificial pets Cheaper to maintain- they don’t eat Easier to maintain- you don’t have to

be aware of giving them food or taking it to the vet.

They don’t mess up the house and they don’t make it dirty

Effects of this interaction. Employees may lose their jobs

Disadvantages:Robots for the elderly: Psychological damage for patients Less understanding Less affection Robot cant reason Loss of real interaction More time spent with robot than real

Psychological effects for pets: You cant feel love for a robot Some psychologists use pets as a

therapy for pacients but it is very difficult to use robots for these kind of therapies

Real pets may provide the owner affection and company – a robot cant because it is not a living being
