Reverse +/- Sign in Rate Step This is a small post just to keep this blog alive. :) Just a small demonstration on the checkbox which we see every time when creating Rate steps. Reverse Sign +/- Check Box The F1 help states You can set this indicator in the rate steps for which the variant programs generate billing line items relevant to posting. If the indicator is set, the +/- sign of the amount in the billing line item is reversed. A receivable becomes a credit memo, and a credit memo becomes a receivable. There are 2 examples also given ,I tried out the second one. You are calculating a difference consumption in a rate. If this difference is a positive value, the customer is to receive a credit memo, and if it is a negative value, the customer is to pay a receivable. For this purpose, you insert a step in the rate that valuates the difference consumption with a price and writes a billing line item on the basis of the result. In this step you set the Reverse +/- sign indicator. So I have a meter having 2 registers ,one for consumption and one for generation. 2 Registers : Generation and Consumption http://wp.me/p1Ci5j-7F www.sapisurdg.wordpress.com

Reverse +/- Sign in Rate Step This is a small post just to keep this blog alive. :)

Just a small demonstration on the checkbox which we see every time when creating Rate steps.

Reverse Sign +/- Check Box

The F1 help states

You can set this indicator in the rate steps for which the variant programs generate billing line items

relevant to posting. If the indicator is set, the +/- sign of the amount in the billing line item is reversed. A

receivable becomes a credit memo, and a credit memo becomes a receivable.

There are 2 examples also given ,I tried out the second one.

You are calculating a difference consumption in a rate. If this difference is a positive value, the customer is

to receive a credit memo, and if it is a negative value, the customer is to pay a receivable.

For this purpose, you insert a step in the rate that valuates the difference consumption with a price and

writes a billing line item on the basis of the result. In this step you set the Reverse +/- sign indicator.

So I have a meter having 2 registers ,one for consumption and one for generation.

In the Rate for Generation the check box is checked.

Reverse Sign Check box Checked :Used for Generation Rate

In the Rate for Consumption its not checked.

Reverse Sign check box not checked for Consumption Rate

As you can see from the Billing document I have Consumption as 1536 units and Price is $2 ,so

Consumption Amount becomes $3072

Consumption

For Generation the quantity is 768 units and Price is $1,so Generation Amount is $768.

Generation

Expected amount to be paid 3072 - 768 = $ 2304 to be paid by Customer

Now lets check for a opposite scenario, Generation greater than consumption.

Generation is 3360 units, price is still $1 ,so amount comes to $3360.

Generation more than Consumption

Consumption is 1344 units, price is $2 and amount is $2688.

Consumption is less than Generation

Final Amount shall be 2688 - 3360 = $672 to be paid by Utility Company

So this is how a check box can help in getting billing done for renewable sources. :)

As I am short of ideas these days (been busy for the past few months and still am :)) I would appreciate if

you can post any scenario which can be useful here or give me a scenario to blog on.

PS: Table ETRFV can be used to capture the rate step having the check box 'CHNG SIGN' for this

Reverse Sign check Box.
