Why did we build docks to start with?

All advanced smartphones use a lot of power and battery life has become a real issue

We invented ‘Smart Docks’ to encourage people to put their phones into charging mode

‘Whisper’ was the codename we used, a 128 bit encrypted handshake between the phone and dock

It fires up the ‘Application Picker’, a cool and intuitive interface that offers bedside mode, office mode, media modes etc

The real magic is in the ‘Remember My Selection’ checkbox - once you tick this it will automatically open up your preferred mode every time

You can also add many more shortcuts to the application toolbar at the bottom of the Webtop window, as well as auto-hiding the toolbar


3. Managing filesOur high tier smartphones have a MASSIVE storage capacity, with 16GB on board and expandable up to 48GB with a 32GB microSD cardThis is amazing, but how do you manage so many files. On our competitors phones its a nightmare, but we have our unique File Manager in Webtop. It looks, feels and behaves in exactly the same way as your personal computer. It also automatically recognises any USB memory sticks or USB mass storage devices and shows them simply as another folderand BEST OF ALL.... you can access all of your Google Docs, and any that have been shared with you as though they were right there on your device. THIS IS A GAME CHANGER.

Manage the power usage of your phone and your Lapdock

You can set to Automatic, or prioritise the phone charging, or the lapdock charging

Control screen savers, display power usage, display sleep etc

There are multiple options, including some very cool screen savers (worth having a screen saver set to running before starting a presentation)


5. Introducing Firefox browsing and the comparison to the mobile phone experienceWebtop uses a full version of Firefox, giving you the ability to access all the web has to offer.You can open Firefox in multiple windows, with multiple tabs, and have it on screen alongside Mobile View or as full screen.You can run it simultaneously with Mobile View, one of the ways that Motorola take advantage of Dual Core processors.

Top TipsBefore your presentation, open Firefox on Webtop and check all the sites you plan to show are set up, that you are logged in, etc etc.Showcase the Android version of the webpage on Mobile View, alongside the full browser version. 6. Taking it to the ultimate level - full computing with CitrixThis is where Dual Core computing comes to life. The original Media Gallery UI from Webtop 1.2 has been replaced by the on-device Connected Gallery and Connected Music features

The Connected Gallery can be made full screen by rotating Mobile View by 90 degrees and selecting full screen. In this mode the user interface looks amazing, with a shadow carousel of images.

The ability to access all your Facebook photos you have ever uploaded within the gallery view transforms how you access this content. You can still tag, share, comment as well, even when interacting from a TV screen at home

Imagine being with friends at home, your phone docked to the TV, discussing you last holiday together and being able to access the photos right there... comment on them... share them...


And with MotoCast I can access any photo on my connected computers, whether they are in the same building or on the other side of the world.

I can access photos in my iPhoto albums as well.... I’m not locked to the Mac ecosystem any more. And what’s more, I can access it in real time.


The Connected Music player is where the on-screen experience really takes off.

This experience is a step change from the original ATRIX music player, and when connected to a home stereo through HDMI the sound is of the highest quality, coupled with an incredible on-screen UI.

9. Using the Webtop interface in a Corporate environment

With RAZR and Stable 6 of Motorola’s Android platform there are some very significant features introduced : Webcam support, SD card support, Ethernet and VGA output

This enables RAZR to form the heart of a totally credible computing solution

Ethernet connectivity dramatically improves the stability of Citrix as well as internet speeds for all aspects of Cloud Computing. This feature is currently only supported by the LapDock 500 Pro.

VGA output enables us all to present without ever needing a computer again. VGA can be done through Lapdock 500 Pro as well as the VGA cable adaptor
