2. Ray tracing Steps in ray tracing 1.Draw an arrow parallel to principal axis from the tip of the object to the mirror, then reflect it passing at the focus. 2. Draw another arrow from the radius of curvature to the tip of the object ,and to towards the mirror. 3. Ray tracing 3. The intersection between the two arrows is the location of the image. 4. The length of an arrow from the principal axis to its tip its size. 4. case 1. the object is away from the radius of curvature of the mirror 5. Analysis When the object is away from the radius of curvature the image is reduced and 6. Case 2. the object is between the focus and the radius of the mirror. 7. Analysis When the object is between the focus and the radius of curvatureits image is inverted and enlarged 8. Case 3. the object is between the mirror and the focus 9. Analysis When the object is between the mirror and the focus , its image is upright and behind the mirror 10. Case 4 The object is at infinity 11. Analysis When the object is at infinity its image is found at the focus of the mirror. 12. Case 5. The object is at the radius of curvature 13. Analysis When the object is at the radius of curvature of the mirror, its image is found below the 14. Case 6. the object is at the focus 15. Analysis When the object is at the focus of the mirror its image is found at infinity. 16. Prepared by: Mr. Virgilio Rollon Paragele Tomas Cabili National High School 17. Quiz 1. Draw ray tracing that an object is found between the focus and the radius of the curved mirror. 2. Where can you locate the image of an object if it is located away from the radius of the curved mirror? 3. Locate the image of an object if it is very far away from the radius of the mirror.
