DESCRIPTION
Dual mode devices that have both local and wide area air interfaces can be used in both fixed and mobile environments. This has both advantages and disadvantages. For example, seamless transition is a convenience feature, but there is a lock-in. Similarly, in WLAN environments mobile phones can be fully featured PBX extensions, but when users transition to a cellular network, the feature set is normally that of the operator. Additionally, the IT function needs to manage the whole environment and ensure foolproof security. Attend this session to find out the productivity benefits that dual-mode communications can deliver to an enterprise, and how you can take advantage of the complementary functionalities of a WLAN infrastructure.

Enterprise Mobility Trends and predictions
Campus and office work will become a luxury for
many workers.
Pervasive wireless connectivity for people,
phones desktop devices, sensors, tags,
machines, etc.
Communication becomes less real-time (“IM as
ring tone”, scheduled communication).
Consumerization of enterprise IT: Employees will
(have to) bring in their own devices to optimize
their workplace wherever they are. CIOs will try to
restrict list of mobile devices used within the
enterprise.
