Clichés and Writing• When it comes to writing, a cliché needs to be

avoided, or even better, not used. Because…• It’s not creative• It’s boring and flat• It can sound like something your grandmother would say• It’s too colloquial and when you are writing you need a

certain formality• Need more reasons? Here is the last and most

important:

Who wants to read the same tired expressions used over and over? People want fresh and

exciting!

Selling like a hot cake Blue as the sky

Cry over spilled milk Busy as a bee
