Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

•Used Photoshop – In my preliminary task I used publisher to produce my magazine cover and contents page, in my actual work I used Photoshop because it was easier to produce a more professional effect through Photoshop.

•Looks more professional – I think I have gained a better understanding of how to make a professional looking magazine as the task went on, I changed my layouts and styles throughout the production of my magazine as I learnt how to make it look better and better aimed at an audience.

•Clearer target audience – Before I started my magazine I did a lot of research in to my target audience, I wanted to make it clear who my magazine was for. This is different from my preliminary task because I didn’t have a clear idea of a target audience and didn’t do any research in to what they might be interested in.

• Better colour scheme – I think that my colour scheme is better in my actual magazine rather then the preliminary task because I had a target audience in mind and I had researched in to what they might like and how to make it stand out from the crowed. In my preliminary work I didn’t have that aim to work towards so my colour scheme isn’t as well planed as it could have been. I learnt that it was important to make sure I had a good colour scheme (because this can catch the audiences attention when they are trying to choose a magazine, if I was to choose the wrong scheme then it may not stand out to the audience and they might buy a competing magazine) when I was doing my survey and my audience wanted to change the colours that I had first chosen.

•More detailed lay out – In my preliminary work the layout of my text was very simple and organised design which didn’t really make it stand out at all, it was very static and boring, something that wouldn’t have got the attention of my target audience. When I was researching I discovered that past magazines of the pop genera had used more disorganised styles to layout there cover, because of this I changed my plan to add in slanted text and images and also have images that where placed around the page, overlapping at occasion, this helps to grab the readers attention and appeals to the readers need to rebel against the organised systems they live in most of the time.

•More audience appropriate text style/ info – though in my preliminary work I tried to put in test that my reader might fined to be interesting and write in a style more appropriate to them I found that it was harder because I didn’t have such a deep understanding of what might interest such a diverse group of people. When I was doing my actual work it was easier to do this because I had an in depth knowledge of the target audience that I was working with and it was a much more controlled group that I was aiming at, this meant that I could produce articles and use langue more appropriate to them.

There weren’t many things which I choose to repeat in my actual

work other then some small layout styles;

•Used repeated mast head in content & cover – I used repeated mast heads in both my content and cover for the preliminary work and the real magazine, I liked the idea of repeating this image because it creates a house style for the magazine, if you have the continuation of a specific thing this makes it more memorable for the reader. I hope that if they can remember the name of the magazine they might talk about it with friends and that their friends will want to go out and buy the magazine themselves.

•Used left orientated on cover – I also used the idea of left orientation on my magazine cover because it is commonly used in other magazines, this is because on some news stands they tend to stack the magazines so the left side is more visible then the right, the way my magazine is layer out would mean that it would be easily visible to anyone looking at it.
