I believe that it is quite possible to recognise my magazine as a real magazine because of the key features and conventions I have used to portray the genre of music I aimed my target audience at.
The layout for my magazine is pretty simple but effective however it does have a lot of key conventions on the front cover and the colour scheme is black, red and white. Black connotes something mysterious, red connotes the danger and white connotes light and innocence.
The mast head is my favourite convention on the front cover as it looks professional and easily could be recognised as a real magazine just by looking at it.
The bold red masthead relates to my genre and is eye-catching and stands out the red connotes the danger and energy of such magazine where as it could also show the passion for the magazine.
Its common that you will find a pull-quote from the magazines stories and this will give some information about what is yet to come in the magazine and will hopefully interest you further. The colour scheme is matching the rest of the magazine and stands out with the use of ‘bevel and emboss’ adding contour structure and a bolder feel to the text.
My contents page layout is bright but structured. The background is a electric guitar which is typical to find within a rock/house sort of genre magazine. The pictures of my feature/cover star are feathered to make them look more natural and to look as if they fitted in the guitar...this is much better way as the edges don’t stand out so they don’t look like its just placed on there like the original photo.
