Embed Size (px)

DESCRIPTION

Mark Fletcher and Markus Bornheim from Avaya present the NG Emergency Services architecture in the US being applied to the European market to provide additional data around emergent incidents. Part of the new networks will be the addition of eCall and the additional data that vehicle telemetry will contribute. They are joined by Cathy McCormick from On Star who will be launching service in the EU in 2015 who discusses how the system will operate in the existing environment with BT and Public Safety Control Rooms.

Players are jockeying for position !  Carriers have the legacy network now

–  Aging infrastructure –  Cannot be upgraded –  Costly to operate and maintain

!  Service providers have the ANI/ALI databases now –  Numbers no longer relate to a location –  No real-time access for updates –  Originating networks and endpoints can provide location

!  PSAP CPE Providers are pushing migration –  Most CTI controls on the back end

–  Rudimentary database queries –  No real intelligence being provided

New Market Opportunities are Emerging !  Software developers are building Apps

–  Not consulting with Public Safety –  Commercial models are different –  Many are out for a quick buck

!  Most are missing the ‘Big Data – Big Picture’ –  Next generation Emergency Services is about

–  INTER NETWORK CONNECTIVITY –  Eliminating Agency Silos

–  NEW MODALITIES OF COMMUNICATION –  Video is the new Voice of the Public

–  UBIQUITY OF DATA ACROSS AGENCIES –  Sharing information openly in a secure environment that is reliable and resilient

Legislation that “governs” member states

!  Free of charge Member States must ensure that users of fixed and mobile telephones, including payphones, are able to call the 112 free of charge.

!  No discrimination Calls to the 112 must be appropriately answered and handled. Some Member States (Sweden, Denmark and The Netherlands) have introduced the 112 as their single emergency number, while in most Member States the 112 operates alongside national emergency numbers.

!  Caller location Member States must also ensure that emergency services are able to establish the location of the person calling the 112. The ability to locate the caller in case of an emergency may be of great significance in a situation where the person is unable to state his or her location, which can happen particularly when calling from mobile phones or while travelling abroad.

!  Raising awareness All EU countries must inform their citizens about the existence of the 112 and how to use it.
