Participants set up their own accounts during the session and learned about key Twitter lingo, applications, searching Twitter conversations, and using Twitter strategically for their business or organization. Comcast is using Twitter to respond to customer-service related
tweets. The Red Cross is using Twitter to send emergency updates to
communities experiencing a disaster and universities are using it
to notify students about emergencies. Small businesses are using
Twitter to drive traffic to their web sites and generate sales.
Individuals are getting questions answer ed quickly. At least one
charity non-profit has been formed by Twitter users in response to
a womans honest tweets about her breast cancer diagnosis (see
Frozen Pea Fund). Southwest Airlines uses Twitter to let customers
know about deals. Journalists discover news tips on Twitter first
on a regular basis and they use it to solicit interview questions
via Twitter. A professor uses Twitter to communicate with his
students between classes. Conference speakers instruct audience
members to submit questions via Twitter and monitor Twitter traffic
to get immediate feedback on their event.

Things to Remember
Twitter wont work for you if you dont use it.
Tweet about what you are doing or thinking. Not every tweet has
to be inspirational or deep.
Its not rude to eavesdrop or interrupt on Twitter.
Be yourself.
Ignore Twitter when you need to focus on something.
Remember that people will be ignoring Twitter sometimes.
Its online, so its never totally private.
Dont tweet when youre angry
Be strategic.
