RIVER MEDELLIN
The river Medellin or river Bores it is a Colombian
river that crosses the city of Medellin and his
metropolitan area. It is born to 3100 msnm in the
High place of San Miguel, in the municipality of
Caldas, to the south of the Valley of Bore, and 100
km later, already with the name of Rio Porce, it spills
his waters to the Rio Nechí.

REASONS OF THE POLLUTION
The principal reasons are:
The human waste.
The textile mills.
The factories that stay next to the river.
“PLANTA SAN FERNANDO”
This one, located in Itagüí's municipality, is the
manager of processing the waters that come even
there, to purify them, them to become oxygenated
and to return them to the environment, to achieve
that little by little the pollution is diminished of the
one that is a victim this river that it crosses to the
city.

PROCESS OF DECONTAMINATION
The pollution of the water decides by means of two
parameters, one is the Biochemical Demand of
Oxygen (DBO), by means of which there measures
up indirectly the quantity of organic biodegradable
present matter in the water, which allows to know
the level of oxygen that it contains: to minor quantity
of oxygen, more contaminated the water is.
