Final cut is the dominant program that I used, it enabled me to edit and
create videos/shots. I firstly used final cut when producing my
preliminary task therefore I was familiar with the program. Final cut
enabled me to add effects such as black and white, reverse shots for
example when the character is writing in the dairy, a reverse shot takes
place and log and transfer clips from the camcorder into Final Cut. The
first step I took was log and transfer the shots, then I placed the shots
in order on the timeline, edited them and then logged and transferred
the credits that I created from ‘Live type’ into Final cut Express and
placed them on the timeline. Having done this I added effects and
successfully I added the audio. Wireframe was also useful as it enabled
me to shrink, move and increase the clip inside the frame to a
appropriate size and position. I found wireframe extremely useful when
positing the credits as I could place them any where I wanted
easily, enlarge it and decrease the size.
I used ‘Google’ for a range of things for example, to research conventions of thriller and horror movies and to find inspirational shots that would influence me for example, a close up shot with pictures of people on the wall. Moreover having researched inspirational shots, I was able to consider other elements such as the mise en scene, lighting and camera angles.
Blogger was were all my evidence of planning, research, evaluation and group discussion/ideas lies.
‘Live type’ was extremely useful when it came to creating my credits. ‘Live type’ enabled me to add effects, choose colours, change fonts, and helps you find a specific font as it is categorized e.g. horror fonts.
‘Youtube’ was very effective as it enabled me to research other horror and thriller movies which influenced me.
Garage band:
is one of the technology I used in order to create
suspenseful audio to make the horror opening sequence effective.
The software enabled me to create my own music track with the
use of loops. One factor I found very useful when using garage
band is that its categorized for example: Jazz, and drums.
Canon Camcorder:
Strength:
Easy to use
Effective to represent the characters perspective
Weakness:
The quality of the actual image was very poor
When filming I found it difficult to have stable shots as I did not
have a tripod. This was a disadvantage because my footage
was unstable.
Light reflector:
Strength:
Enables the character facial expression to be shown
Overall, I found that using these technologies and
websites have been extremely efficient and helpful.
Without these technologies it would be very hard to
produce a opening sequence. Throughout this
process I have developed my skills on Final cut
Express, Livetype, Blogger, Garageband, Youtube
and slide share.
