PolicyMap

• We built PolicyMap first as a tool to help TRF and

its own clients better understand their own markets.

• We opened it up to the public and created a self-sustaining business model for the online tool that allows users to access part of what is available for free and additional data/tools with a subscription.

Why do they use PolicyMap?

• Visualize where they have made investments or loans or grants; understand what those markets look like and how they are changing.

• Strategically think about where they need to make investments in the future based on market conditions, need or government program requirements.

• Obtain data for reporting or grant application requirements.

• General neighborhood research.

Why Relevant for Today’s Discussion?

• PolicyMap could be an additional data resource for showing other potential partners/resources in a geographic area: Government designations like CRA or NMTC eligibility

could mean partnerships with financial institutions; Government designations like CDBG eligible tracts or

high NSP3 scores could mean available local government dollars for housing;

Health resources such as retail based health clinics; Neighborhood anchors such as schools, libraries, non-

profit organizations.
