Mrs Loone2011
Have a Plan
• Draw or show your thinking- try using a Spider Web
• Stick to your plan (then make changes).
• Decide who the presentation isfor.
Know Your Topic
• Students usually want to charge right in and make the presentation.
• STOP Do the research first and really know your material.
• Think through what you will present before beginning the project on the computer.
Know Your Topic
• Creating the slide show is the easy part.
• The best classroom presentations are created by kids who know what they are going to talk about.
Use Key Information
• Good presenters use key phrases and include only the most important information.
• Your topic may be vast…….
• But choose only the top three or four points and make them your focus.
Too Much Text
• Mistake #1Writing your whole speech on the slides.
• The slide show is meant to accompany your oral presentation.
• Write in bullet points – 4 or 5 per slide.
• Use simple language.
Layout and Presentation
• Avoid fancy fonts• Use images• Repetitive layout• Simple colour scheme• Not too many slides
Research Tips
• How much do you need?
• What’s really important?
• Take notes as you research- paraphrase in your own words!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
• Always refer to your plan
