Formatting & Partitioning External Hard Drive

• Open Disk Utility

– Mac HD > Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility

• Erase tab > Mac OS Extended > Rename it > Press Erase

• Partition (only if you want to use both PC and Mac)

– Go to drop down menu and select 2 partitions

– Select first box > Name it > Select MS Dos Free Space (PC)

– Select 2nd box > Name it > Select Mac OS Extended (Mac)
