Osmotic Power plant how it work.• * Osmotic is what we call when we

transport water through a semipermeable membrane.

• How it works. We start with transporting seawater and freshwater in two different containers with a semipermeable membrane between them.

• Then the seawater molecule gets pulled to the freshwater and when that happens the pressure in the freshwater tank gets higher and will lead the water in the second pipe to a turbine.

• That will produce power.

PROSOSMOTIC IS A RENEWABLE SOURCE OF ENERGY. AND IT’S ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY.IN THEORY IT CAN BE BUILT EVERYWHERE FRESHWATER IS FLOWING OUT TO THE SEA.AND YOU CAN PRODUCE POWER WHENEVER REGARDLESS OF WEATHER.

BUT OF COURSE THERE ARE SOME CONS IN THIS. LIKE I HAVE TOLD YOU, THIS IS NOT SOMETHING WE ARE USING IN NORWAY RIGHT NOW. WE ARE ONLY RESEARCHING IT. BECAUSE WITH TODAY’S TECHNOLOGY, WE WILL ONLY GAIN ENOUGH POWER FROM THIS METHOD BY BUILDING CONTAINERS AS BIG AS A FOOTBALL STADIUM.

An Example of what we can do with an Osmotic Power Plant

• If we have an Osmotic Power Plant with a semipermeable membrane of 5 million square meters, and that will produce 25 MW that again will produce 166 GWh power in the year. That’s enough for 30000 EU houses.
