– A step to communicate with a human being. A notification activity sends a message to a user containing the information needed to complete the work. The notification may or may not require a response from the recipient.

• Starts.
• Sends a vacation proposal from a requestor to an approver prompting the proposal recipient to approve or reject. Also allows the approver to respond with comments.
• If the proposal is approved, sends a notification to the requestor reporting the vacation is approved.

2. Modify your Item Type created in Practice 6-1, (internal name of “WFVACXX” where XX is the unique number assigned to your station).Expand the item type branches and open the Process Diagram window for your process.
Hints: To open your file datastore use menu option File -> Open … , Ctrl-O, or the Open icon on the Workflow Builder Navigator toolbar.
To open your process diagram, double-click on the Vacation Proposal process, or select the process and choose Process Details from the right-mouse-menu options.
2. Modify your Item Type created in Practice 6-1, (internal name of “WFVACXX” where XX is the unique number assigned to your station).Expand the item type branches and open the Process Diagram window for your process.

3. In the Builder Navigator, use Edit -> Find to locate the ‘End’ function in the Standard item type. Drag and drop this function into your process diagram to create an additional End node.
In the Builder Process Diagram, use the New Notification tool bar icon to create notification activity nodes. Delete the transition from the Start to End nodes. Draw new transitions between nodes according to your process sketch.
Hint: Use the Approval lookup type provided in the Standard item type for your response notification.
3. In the Builder Navigator, use Edit -> Find to locate the ‘End’ function in the Standard item type. Drag and drop this function into your process diagram to create an additional End node.
