Patch plans allow to decrease Oracle software management overhead

Patch plans can be easily monitored and recovered in case of errors

However patch plan need an internet access to be efficient. The offline requires manual download of the patches

The technology must be trusted for patching, however might be more efficient than human-patching :-)

The Oracle Configuration Manager (OCM) allows to provide information about your infrastructure to My Oracle Support

Through OCM Oracle can evaluate the benefit of some fixes/patches according to your environment

As soon as a patch is installed, OCM informs the Oracle support which adapts re-evaluates the advices

Grid Control offers an improved functionality based on the Harvester

This functionality exists since 10.2.0.5 but is now better integrated in Grid Control 11g

This feature allows to avoid deploying an OCM configuration per server

In order to provide a clear advantage compared to other monitoring tools, Oracle proposes a deep MOS integration

Despite the costs and licensing strategy, OEM Grid Control 11g is now accepted by many customers (Monitoring tools are expansive anyway)
