“Prior to the implementation of these solutions, a machine took at least four hours to be completely set up and standardized. Now, thanks to Dell KACE, we can perform this in mere minutes, without station downtime orany chance of errors.” Leonardo Bruno Brandileone, Technology and Interactivity Manager, Mattos Filho

To service this range of clients and sectors, Mattos Filho currently relies on 61 partners, 301 lawyers, 333 administrative professionals and 125 trainees. With a reputation for its innovative use of information technology, the firm was one of the first Brazilian businesses to implement the Dell KACE K1000 and Dell KACE K2000 systems management appliances, which are fully integrated for provisioning systems.
According to the Technology and Interactivity Manager at Mattos Filho, Leonardo Brandileone, the investment in Dell KACE was driven by the increasing complexity involved in managing employees’ workstations. “We have more than 800 stations, and managing them consumed time, manpower and money.”
He recalls that all actions involving the hardware fleet were performed manually, from the installation of operating systems and applications to their update, including the setup of each new machine. In addition to being time-consuming, manual processes increased the chances of errors and customer dissatisfaction.
Seeking the best solutionAfter researching possible solutions, Mattos Filho signed the partnership with Dell. According to Bradileone, both the proof of concept and the implementation process went smoothly. “We leveraged Dell’s support on a few occasions, and, at those times, it was very efficient. We got all the help we
needed,” he says. Dell also trained two of the company’s team members in all the details of the solution.
More efficiencyTo Bradileone, one of the biggest benefits of the implementation was the gain in efficiency, “Prior to the implementation of these solutions, a machine took at least four hours to be completely set up and standardized. Now, thanks to Dell KACE, we can perform this in mere minutes, without station downtime or any chance of errors.”
Mattos Filho relies on the Dell KACE K2000 System Management Appliance to perform the standardization of machines, automating the entire installation process of operating system and applications and preparing the machine to proceed straight to the user’s desk. From then on, management of the devices is performed by the Dell KACE K1000 appliance.

warranty control; software licensing management, which is essential when dealing with a fleet of more than 800 machines; software distribution, automating the entire process of installing and updating equipment software; and patching, which is critical to the security of the entire environment.
Bradileone points out that the IT department has also gained efficiency in the preparation of specific environments for each team. With activities divided by business unit, each group of professionals works with different content, which means that each equipment refresh required a new reinstallation of all the material.
Today, the K2000 stores about 250 software packages, which are the objects that users must have on their machines. Whenever a workstation needs to be modified or when a new machine is purchased, the solution performs the fully automated installation of the
machine, using a process created with software packages suited to each user profile. “In the previous model, this process used to take one day. Now, it is completed in 15 minutes,” Bradileone says.
According to Brandileone, the Dell KACE solution will meet the demands of Mattos Filho for the next three years. Moreover, he aims to expand the use of the solution. “We also intend to use it to manage Microsoft security patches, thus increasing security in our environment,” he says.
