Embedding is when you insert a document of one type into a document of another type.

An example would be when you insert a spreadsheet into a word processing document.

Within like-programs, such as those within Microsoft Office, the ability to embed is relatively easy because the programs have a shared development basis.

With tens of thousands of programs, the inter-operability is not nearly as friendly.

As we know, the World Wide Web has allowed for a common “platform” where documents of all types – papers, slideshows, videos, etc - can be accessed by everyone, instead of being housed on one’s own computer.

Prior to Web 2.0 developments, if you wanted to access a resource – video, presentation, etc. you either had to have it sent to you, via an email....

Embedding on the web (in a fashion similar to the spreadsheet embedded in the word document) allows objects to be “gathered” in one place and presented in a manner that gives the viewer an easier-to-handle representation of the source document.

The key is to find the Embed code which is related to the resource that you wish to embed in your blog or wiki.

You simply copy it and then paste it into your blog or wiki in the appropriate spot.
