Recommendations

• The lack of funding, limited participation from NOAA staff, an inadequate maintenance policy, and decreasing visitor levels necessitate the recommendation to shut down NOAA’s presence in Second Life.

• For NOAA’s presence to stay open, it should support a maintenance plan to provide content refresh and repairs as needed.

• For NOAA’s presence to stay open, it should adopt an overall content management strategy and multi-grid extending beyond Second Life.

• For NOAA’s presence to stay open, it should engage Linden Lab in traffic promotion strategies.
