It consists of five rural villages: Taşca, Hamzoaia, Neagra and Ticoş-Florea. The first historical information concerning Taşca dates back to 1611, when the village was listed within Bistriţa-Bisericani Monastery domain. The traditional occupations of the inhabitants are in agriculture, animal breeding, forestry and wood industry, but recently many more now work in the cement factory and in rural tourism. Taşca is the starting point for several attractive mountain routes. The surrounding area hosts rare and protected species of plants and animals. Renewable Energy Sources Now: As a result of the cooperation between the Danish government and the local council, a boiler plant (2.5 MW) has been built that uses the sawdust collected from Taşca and neighboring communities. The consumers supplied with heat from the biomass boiler plant are: school, kindergarten, hospital, Culture House and 40% of the inhabitants of Taşca village. Future: A project to selectively manage the domestic waste and another one, concerning the burning of the waste in order to obtain heat water and electric energy. Rational Use of Energy Now: Mounting of thermostatic valves, re-circulation of hot potable water. Future: Thermal isolation of school, kindergarten and city hall
