Theresa Lewis executed

Lewis was executed Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, for the crime she did nearly eight years ago, despite the strong objection and protest.

She was led by officers into the death chamber at 8:55 p.m., according to Washington Post.

Apologizes to stepdaughter

On the way to the chamber, the anxious-looking Lewis asked officers whether Kathy Clifton, the daughter and sister of her victims, was in the chamber.

Kathy was in an adjacent witness room blocked from the inmate's view by a two-way mirror.

She said: "I want Kathy to know I love you and I am very sorry."
