Model Development Flow

• Create Data Sources and Load tables• Create the connection between the Tables• Define Measures, Sets, Column Types and Format• Customize your Model – i.e. Hide or delete unnecessary Columns• Automate the Model (Define Partition Mechanism and Processing)• Define Security• Deploy the Model (Use the “Publish” icon)

Creating a New Model Using Excel as a Data SourceTo create a new model based on Excel as a data source follow the steps below: • Click on the Management icon (appears at top right of the screen)

• Select the models icon from the ribbon bar

• Click on the root folder down arrow (public\ private) and then new to create a new model

Creating a New Model Using Excel as a Data Source – continue • When a name was given to a model, a new “My World” screen

appears • Click on the “Import” icon • Select the data source by clicking on the drop down option • Click on “Create New” button, a new Data Source will be opened • Click on the Excel icon to upload/connect to a file

Connect to a SharePoint folder

Use a file from a shared folder

upload is finished, “My World” is displayed

Workboard Creation Based on Model Created • Once model has been published, click on the “New” icon at Necto’s

work area screen • Select from the wizard “Create a Workboard with Data” • Select “Multidimensional” icon and select “Necto

modeling

• Select the model you have created (will appear at the bottom of the list)

• Click on “Save” step and type the name of the workboard • Click on “Finish” step to complete the wizard
