R&D Support for Aerospace Industry Strategic Aerospace and Defence Initiative supports private sector industrial research and pre-competitive development (R & D). Further R&D incentive programs are available:The Innovation Demonstration Fund (IDF) focuses on the commercialization and initial demonstration of globally competitive, innovative technologies, processes and/or products.

Southern Ontario Advantage program – recent introductionsTechnology Development Program - financial support to encourage collaboration to develop large-scale, advanced technologies.

Applied Research and Commercialization Initiative addresses gap between research and commercialization - encourage collaboration between SMEs and post-secondary institutions.

Eastern Ontario Support Programs

Eastern Ontario Development Fund (EODF) – 15% of eligible project costs up to $1.5 million with matching funds contribution of 50 % of total project costs.

Eastern Ontario Development Program (EODP) supports business and skills development, innovation and information communication technology, community capacity building, retention and attraction of youth, and access to capital.

Other Funding SourcesSouthern Ontario Advantage Program Prosperity InitiativeSMEs (under 1000 employees) - repayable contributions of up to 50% of direct eligible capital project costs. Up to 75% of direct eligible non-capital costs to a maximum of $20 million.

The Canada Small Business Financing Program (CSBFP) share risk with financial institutions to help secure up to $500,000.

Training and employment programs provide tax credits, subsidies, and summer jobs services.

Venture Support The Ontario Emerging Technologies Fund (OETF), a $250 million fund over five years, to co-invest alongside qualified Investors into innovative, high-growth companies. The Ontario Venture Capital Fund (OVCF) - joint initiative between the Government of Ontario and institutional investors to invest primarily in Ontario-based and Ontario-focused venture capital and growth equity funds to support innovative, high growth companies.
