• The National Careers Service website provides help with finding a job, a skills check, finding a course and planning a career. One of its most useful features is the CV builder, which guides you through the process of creating your own CV from scratch.

• As well as making it easy to compile a CV via a step-by-step process, it also offers a choice of designs at the end so that the CV looks attractive on the page too.

• On the internet, go to http://bit.ly/cvbuilder

• If you think you have enough time to complete your CV in one session then there is no need to register. Otherwise it's a good idea to register so that you can save your CV as a work in progress and come back to it at a later date from any computer that has internet access.

• Once you have completed your CV you will be able to save and edit it in Microsoft Word.
