NYCE® TO MOVE ITS WEB-BASED CUSTOMER APP TO STRATUS ftSERVER FAULT-TOLERANT PLATFORM

Continuously Available Server for Windows 2000 Computing Selected for 24x7 Reliability

MAYNARD, MA, February 3, 2003 –NYCE Corporation, one of America’s leading electronic

payment companies, processing approximately 100 million transactions per month, announced

today that it is migrating its InfoManager administrative workstation application to the Stratus®

ftServer® platform. The 2,200 financial institutions, retailers and ATM operators comprising the

NYCE Network’s membership access this Web-based application for reports, transaction

histories, technical operations bulletins and manuals, as well as other data and member services.

“Our participant base continues to grow in number and diversity every year, as do the services

NYCE will be called upon to provide in the future,” said Brian Mecca, Director of Data Center

Operations. “With new demands also comes the expectation that our participants will continue to

receive outstanding support and service. Twenty-four hour access to information and business

data is an essential part of that responsibility, which is why we selected a Stratus ftServer system

to host this important service delivery platform.”

The Stratus ftServer family is the computer industry’s first line of 1- to 4-way SMP fault-tolerant

Intel® processor-based servers for Microsoft® Windows® Advanced Server computing

environments. ftServer systems are simple to deploy, operate and maintain, and they provide the

highest level of reliability for applications where business continuity and continuous processing

are critical. The product family includes a range of models, configurations, and price points to

meet departmental- to data-center application requirements.

“Unscheduled system outages of any type are totally unacceptable and potentially costly to

NYCE and its participating organizations,” said Philip Izzo, Stratus director of Business

Development, Financial Services. “NYCE demands superior levels of infrastructure reliability to

effectively deliver real-time payment solutions and client support, 24/7. It is critical business

processes like these for which the ftServer system is ideally suited, and we’re very pleased that

NYCE elected to move its client-interfacing InfoManager application to Stratus’ fault-tolerant,

industry-standard platform.”

Stratus is the only server maker to disclose actual recorded “availability” levels for its products

based on reported service incidents from the installed base. The ftServer Uptime MeterSM is

updated daily and can be viewed on Stratus’ Website at www.stratus.com/uptime/ftserver.htm.

The data are based on operating experience of both the hardware and Windows 2000 operating

system over the most recent six months.
