What is a map?

Maps are a visual representation of a much larger land. Maps do not show

the actual size of what they are trying to show. Imagine a map that was the actual show the United States! That would not be helpful. So, things are scaled down to fit on a much useful size page.

Types of maps

Maps can show you a lot: Locations of countries/states/regions Population of a type of animal Where to find parks, restaurants, etc. Highways Weather patterns Elevation

Parts of a map

Keys: The objects on maps are represented as a symbol. Maps use keys to explain the meaning of each symbol.

Activity: Scavenger hunt

How to use a QR code: You will be given a question and a map to help

answer the question. There will be QR code that is assigned to each answer. Scan the QR code of the answer you select. It will direct you to the next location if you are correct.
