Medical vocabularies and Lifesciences data in SharePoint with GRASP 1.3

Embed Size (px)

DESCRIPTION

GRASP ("Graph for SharePoint") is the solution to introduce Lifesciences data and vocabularies into SharePoint. You can use medical vocabularies like SNOMED or ICD-10 in SharePoint for content tagging or for browsing. You can explore these vocabularies in SharePoint, e.g. to facilitate medical coding. You can import complex vocabularies in SharePoint, like Gene Ontology, and make them available in electronic medical records or for clinical trial management. You can use Linked Data from Lifesciences data sources, like Open PHACTS, LinkedLifeData or Bio2RDF, directly in GRASP, e.g. in dashboards, to enrich SharePoint-based (electronic drug or healthcare) knowledge bases or to enhance document search. Smarter access to documents with "Semantic Tags" Semantic tags are intelligent tags that contain more information than normal SharePoint metadata. For example you can tag SharePoint documents with enzyme names from the Uniprot database. This makes it possible for users to retrieve documents based on the cofactors of enzymes. Documents that use semantic tags can be enriched with additional information from the Linked Data contained in Lifesciences data sources (or from your RDF-store).

Medical vocabularies and Lifesciences data

Benefits of GRASP for Lifesciences:

1. Maximum reuse of existing vocabularies and data assets

2. Improved data quality

3. Significantly reduced time for collaboratively editing taxonomies

4. SharePoint-based (electronic drug or healthcare) knowledge bases are enriched with information from Linked Data sources

5. Regulatory compliance regarding the use of data standards

6. Decreased time to market, cost, and resources as a result of improved business processes

Medical vocabularies and Lifesciences data

Features

• Import vocabularies, like ICD-10, into SharePoint to

make them available in electronic medical records or

for clinical trial management

• Explore vocabularies in SharePoint, e.g. to facilitate

medical coding

• Poly-hierarchies: complex terminologies are frequent

in the Lifesciences domain, e.g. GeneOntology.

GRASP supports terms with multiple parents.

• Enrich SharePoint data with Linked Data, e.g. from

Bio2RDF or LinkedLifeData

• Use Semantic Tags to create intelligent document

filters that use domain knowledge.

2. Select the term

store and the

update strategy.

1. Select a

terminology or

taxonomy to

populate a term

store…

1. Load terminologies into the termstore

4. Poly-Hierarchies

Terms can be located in

multiple subtrees at the

same time, allowing to

navigate to the term via

different routes. Poly-

Hierarchies are frequent in

Lifesciences ontologies, like

the GeneOntology.

5. Enrich SharePoint Data with Linked Data

Terms from the

GeneOntology are used as

“Semantic Tags” for

SharePoint documents.

The document list shows all

documents tagged with a

certain term (“Label”).

“Definition” is retrieved from

LinkedLifeData.

6. Use Linked Data to Filter SharePoint Documents

Terms from Uniprot are used as

“Semantic Tags”. Each tags is associated

with an enzyme in Uniprot. This list of

documents is generated from a SPARQL-

query that returns all documents about

an enzyme, that has “Magnesium” as

cofactor.
