Cinematography• Establishing shot- Pan and Rule of

thirds composition.

• High angle- long shot of actress- Stairs that she is exiting.

• Medium long shot zooming into a medium close up. High angle. Framing the actress by herself.

• Extreme close up of hand grasping the pebbles.

• Side on close up Silhouette of her face in flashing light scene.

We took this to introduce the main location. We used a sea and beach landscape to represent our actress looking for answers to her issues.

We used a high angle to show her weakness and emotional pain and to create a idea to the viewer that she is feeling insignificant. We followed her steps down the stairs as the audience can feel as if they are walking with her (connecting the viewer within the story).

This was taken again to show that she has been belittled by a lover. The framing of her sitting by the water by herself shows that she feels isolated. We showed her fidgeting to show her stress and irritation. For continuity seconds later a side view of this is shown again zooming in at a different angle to show her pain and isolation surrounding her as she sings.

Extreme close up of her hands to show the anger and pain that she is feeling as she desperately claws the ground.

Montage of rapid cuts to move on with the narrative ( hands on piano section, flashing lights introduced)

High angles are typically used within soul videos for emotional purposes. Zooming and modern types of shots such as face silhouette within flashing lights is also typical of pop genre.

So the audience can focus on her mouthing the lyrics and represent a modern aspect.Feminine features shown through the silhouette.

High angles are used to represent a hegemonic view of young stereotypical teenage girls going through emotional break up.
