DNS & Web Server

DNS- Domain name server is a software program that performs domain name services. It contains the inform- ation that which website is related to which IP address. For example- 8.8.8.8, 4.4.4.4 Web Server- A Web server is a program that, using the  client/server model and the World Wide Web's HTTP, serves the files that form Web pages to Web users means whose computers contain HTTP clients that forward their requests. For example- apache

MTA & MDA

MTA- Mail Transfer Agent is the program responsible for receiving incoming emails and delivering the messages to individual users. The MTA transfers messages between computers. For example- postfix

MDA- Mail Delivery Agent is a computer software component that is responsible for delivery of e-mails to a local recipient's mailbox. For example- dovecot

Webmail & Chat Client

Webmail client- It is any email client implemented as a web application running on a web server. Practically every mail server provider offers email access using a webmail client. For example- squirrelmail, roundcube.

Chat Client- It is the software that resides in the user's computer for handling instant messaging. Whenever a mail is received by account connected to client then it shows a notification in the notification bar. For example- Thunderbird, Gmail app in android.

Configurations

Installation- sudo apt-get install bind9 dnsutils apache2 php5 postfix dovecot-core dovecot-imapd dovecot-pop3d squirrelmail

Configurations- Using nano editor or gedit editor, we can do configurations of DNS server, dovecot, postfix etc.Accounts- Using useradd command, we can make users. All the users will be created on the server PC. The users of other PCs cannot login to the mail server even if they can go to login page.
