Visibility is key!

Our banner is chock full of information about social networking options for students or staff who are too hurried or shy about approaching our stand. We also provide a library of hard copy resources for students & staff interested in LGBT resources & research

How do we do it?• We maintain a physical presence at Open Days & are constantly in & out of

the LITSU offices to keep our society ‘fresh’ in the minds of the SU Sabbats & receptionist.

• LITSU supports our virtual presence via their website

• LITSU also updates their Facebook page with our events

FacebookWe began with a Facebook ‘Friends’ page Litisout SocOver time we realised that the ‘like’ page format was more appropriate for our needs.

We have retained our Friends page & keep both pages updated. We plan to create a ‘closed group’ for students who aren’t ‘out’

Twitter

• We joined Twitter this year in order to provide another access point for members & other interested parties.

• It’s linked to our Facebook account which minimises the ‘work’ required in tweeting.

E-Mail

[email protected] • Via e-mail we keep LIT support staff in the loop

regarding events, support organisations, training & research related to the LGBT communities

• This information is generally in the form of attachments which can be circulated in either hard or soft copy format.

• One lecturer shares this information on Moodle so that her students can access it.

Blogging

We set up a blog in order to provide access to our contact details and events for those who are uncomfortable with using other media like Facebook or Twitter. This provides anonymity for readers while providing a structure for sharing much of the same information.
