There are still some customer runningn older version of QuickPlace that have not yet upgraded to Quickr. Getting to the latest version of Quickr is becoming more burdensome for them with every new release of Quickr because it is usually a sequential process. Qickr 8.2 introduced support for a one-step, side-by-side upgrade process which will enable customers to move from QuickPlace 6.5.1 or 7.0 directly to Quickr 8.2 without first going to Quickr 8.0, then to 8.1, then to 8.2, with each step necessitting an upgrade of the underlying Domino server.
Customers can install a new server along side of their existing QuickPlace server, install 8.2 on the new box, then migrate their content over and run the upgrade task ins a single step saving considerable effort and server downtime.

Lotus Quickr 8.2
Connector enhancements
Lotus Quickr 8.2Better end user experience and fidelity
Store email as .EML file
Provided .EML viewer
Reduces folder clutter
NOTE: All new enhancements for the Connectors work with both Lotus Quickr services for Domino and J2EE.
When dragging content from Notes email inboxes to Quickr, a new .eml file will be created in Quickr 8.2. In earlier releases of the connectors, the emil body content, any attachments, and any embedded graphics would be stored separately in a folder in the specified Quickr lirbary. The additional folders could clutter navigation and make reading stored email messages difficult.
Quickr 8.2 now stores saved emails as .eml files which are HTML representations of the original email message contentincluding body text, embedded grphics and any attachmentswhich results in a single document being stored in Quickr (without requiring folders to contain it) and provides a high-fidelity experience when re-visiting tht stored email. A viewer for .eml files is also provided as part of 8.2
Connector enhancements (cont)
Enhanced Authentication Extension Support
Only Basic authentication supported prior to 8.2
Enable connectors to be deployed into more customer environments
Support form-based authentication (with extensions)
Extensible Architecture in which to plug custom authentication modules
Example of a plug-able authentication module for a large chemical manufacturer's 2-factor SAM authentication
Includes custom UI input dialog + installation package for the custom module
Lotus Quickr 8.2NOTE: All new enhancements for the Connectors work with both Lotus Quickr services for Domino and J2EE.
Quickr 8.2 introduced an extensible authenticationframework for customers that wish to either replace or augment the basic authentiction used in Quickr. The bottom screen shot is taken from a customer deployment tht used their own customer forms-based authentication module to replace the standard Quickr authentication mechanism.
Connector enhancements (cont)
Lotus Quickr 8.2NOTE: All new enhancements for the Connectors work with both Lotus Quickr services for Domino and J2EE.
Auto-populate connectors configuration on the client
Administrator can push a controlled list of team places to end-users
Reduces confusion on how-to add team places in connectors
Push out policy setting
Only use basic-authentication, SPNEGO, etc
Control Document check-in behavior (e.g. always check documents in by default)
Helps training / support at customer site
Make it easier to use connectors
Windows Integrated Authentication (SPNEGO) support
Adminsitrative enhancements in the connectors that shipped with Quickr 8.2 include the ability to autopopulate the connectors with places. This allows administrators to ensure that every usre have links to specific plces in their connectors.
Admin enhancements also provide more control over the deployment and usage of connectors in their environments.
Windows Intgegrated Authentication (commonly called SPNEGO) support is available but requires a third-party asset form a partner to implement. This requirement for a third-party asset will be address in a future relese of Quickr whenthe underlying Domino server provides the needed services and no longer needs the third-party asset.
Connector enhancements (cont)
Lotus Quickr 8.2Support multi-user Notes client
installs
Support forward proxy
Customers normally connect to the Internet using forward proxies
Usage of Lotus Quickr via hosted service
Support Lotus Quickr for Domino local groups feature
Currently connectors ignore local group membership in a place (causing users to not see content they have access to)
NOTE: All new enhancements for the Connectors work with both Lotus Quickr services for Domino and J2EE.
Deployability enhancements in the connectors includes support for multi-user Notes client intallations. This is increasingly common in environments with roaming users or shared workstations. Each user can now have their own, distinct, list of places intheir connectors along with their own stored preferences.

Lotus Quickr 8.1.1
Traditionally, Quickr has provided content services that addressed the needs of teams. These included check-in/out, vresioning, search, security, and custom document types, all in the context of a team room. With the introduction of Quickr Entry in Quickr 8.1, and continuing with a recent entitlement to the Files capability of Lotus Connections (details follow later in the deck) quickr added the ability to address the needs of personal file sharing and ad hoc, small group collaboration without the need for the structure and rigor (and overhead) of a team room.
Quickr 8.1.1 introduced the ability to publish content from Quickr to an ECM system so organizations can conduct the messy business of collaboration in Quickr and still leverage their investment in their ECM and its advanced capabilities, like massive scalability, sophisticated business process management, and records management.
The Quickr connectors can also be used to directly access, and interact, with content in these ECM systems.
Enterprise Content Management (ECM) integration enhancements
Lotus Quickr / ECM integration will support four main
areas:
Transfer of content from Lotus Quickr to ECM systems
Move
Move with Link
Copy
Display feeds of ECM content in Lotus Quickr
Individual links to ECM documents
Display contents of ECM folders in Lotus Quickr
Lotus Quickr connectors can directly interact with ECM content
Basic content operations against Lotus Quickr and ECM back-ends
Search of ECM content from the Lotus Quickr web experience
Full text search of ECM content and meta data
Lotus Quickr 8.1.1
Quickr's integration with IBM ECM offerings allows users to publish content from Quickr to their ECM system; to display feeds of content from their ECM system in Quickr team places; to create individual links in Quickr that point to documents in the ECM system; to search content in the eCM system from the Quickr browser UI; and to directly access and itneract with ECM content via the Quickr connectors.
Transfer content to the ECM system
Document can be published to an ECM back-end for records
management or other reasons
If there is meta-data required by the ECM system, Lotus Quickr
will prompt for that meta-data
Different publishing options are available
Lotus Quickr 8.1.1
Via the Quickr browser UI, users can manually publish content from Quickr's library to their ECM system. During the publish process, users may be asked (depending on how the administrator has configured their system) to select a folder, or location in the ECM system for this new content. They may also be asked whether they want to copy the content, move the content, or move with a link. Copying leaves the original document in Quickr and adds a copy to ECM. Moving deletes the original from Quickr, leaving a single instance in the eCM system. Move with link deletes the original from Quickr, places it in the eCM system, and puts a link back into Quickr tht points users to the document's new home in the ECM system. Finally, if any additional meta data is needed by the ECM system, the user will be prompted to input that additional meta data. All related meta data will be trnsfered to the ECM system along with the document upon publish.
Display Feeds of ECM Content
Most organizations have existing content in their ECM system
thatthey want to incorporate, or reference, in Lotus
Quickr
Users will be able to selectively create links to ECM content or subscribe to an ATOM feed of a folder from the ECM system
Users can also link to content in other Lotus Quickr team places
Aggregate content from multiple Lotus Quickr team places into another team place
Lotus Quickr 8.1.1
Users can also incorporate content from external sources in a Quickr team room via feeds. Quickr 8.1.1 added the ability to subscribe to a feed of content froma folder in the ECM system, making it visible to users in the context of the team room.
Users can also create links to individual documents that reside in the ECM system if they only wish to include a small number of documents. These link can not only point to the ECM system, but to content in other Quickr team rooms.
Lotus Quickr 8.1.1Access ECM content using the connectors
Lotus Quickr connectors will support direct access of ECM content
End users can continue to work in a familiar client and make collaboration a natural extension of the work they do
Connectors provide content services into, and direct access from:
Lotus Notes, Lotus Sametime, Lotus Symphony, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Windows Explorer
And provides full functionality even in older versions of MS Office such as:
Check-in / out, Cancel checkout, Publish draft, Versioning, View / Edit Properties, Create / Send Links, Approve / Reject, Create from Document type, Add to Place, Open from Place, Save to Place
Lotus Notes and Microsoft Outlook connectors support drag / drop of links /documents to and from email
Lotus Sametime connector supports chatting about a document (including the link to document)
Access ECM content with the email connector
All Lotus Quickr connectors offer the same functionality
Drag-and-drop document to upload to server
Drag links into email instead of sending attachments
Lotus Quickr 8.1.1
Users can now drag and drop content from their email inboxes into Quickr or ECM repositories for storage and management, especially in situations where legal compliance is an isses. Users can also drag links from the Notes or outlook sidebar into email messages, which prevent the unwanted practice of trying to conduct document-centric collabortion via email as users email attachements back and forth. Instead, they can leverage a purpose-built tool to collaborte on documents, and avoid sending multiple instances of large files to numerous recipients, clogging masil servers and individual mail files with redundant content.
Lotus Quickr 8.1.1Search ECM content from the Quickr web experience
Ability to search ECM content from Quickr web experience
Lotus Quickr connectors do not support search (of Quickr or ECM) functions yet
Secure searching - users will only see search results if they have proper access
Lotus Quickr will broker queries to P8 (FileNet) and CM8 (Content Manager) search engines
ECM search results will appear in their own results list
Limitation with CM8 (Content Manager) search integration
Lotus Quickr will be able to search for Content Manager content that was added only via Lotus Quickr
View members
Allows all members of the team place to view the list of all the members and selectively send email to individual members
Team Calendar
iCal meeting notification to personal calendars from the team calendar are sent / broadcast by the person creating or editing the event
Team Collaboration enhancements
Lotus Quickr 8.1.1NOTE: repeating events are not supported. Emails are being sent to all members (no selection).
8.1.1 includes a new membership component that let's members of a place view the membership list so they can easily see who else have access to the place. For email notification in view members, members of the group can receive the email if the group has an email address Note: access to the view members portlet cannot be disabled by the place owner.Team calendar entries can now be included in personal calendars via a nw iCal notification. Personal calendar of the chairperson of the meeting is also updated
Team Collaboration enhancements (cont)
Project Tasks
Task assignments are now scoped to the members of the team space
Email notification to task assignees
Note: it is possible to assign a task and send an email to specific members of a group
Document Workflow
Notify document authors and approvers of the existence and change in the state of a document as it moves through workflow
Lotus Quickr 8.1.1
Task management in 8.1.1 iwas updated to scope the possible assignees to members of the place only. Email notification for tasks and document workflow is a server setting and works by default once enabled.

Non-functional enhancements include suppot for Firefox 3.0 browser, additional LDAP directories, and the most recent versions of Notes and Domino.
Integration with Lotus iNotes 8.5
Access to Lotus Quickr 8.1.x team places from the iNotes interface
Note: this functionality is packaged as part of iNotes 8.5 (not Lotus Quickr 8.1.1)
Lotus Quickr 8.1.1The iNotes (DWA) team included integration with Lotus Quickr in their 8.5 release. This provides the same level of connector functiona as a native Notes user wold experience, including the ability to intercept outgoing email attachments and store them in a Quickr team place, and to add links to Quickr content into outgoing emails, as well as save incoming attachments to a Quickr place.
Integration with Lotus Connections Community service
Add a wiki when creating or editing the community
Add a team place (e.g. document library, team calendar, etc) when creating or editing the community
Changes to the community membership are propagated to the linked wiki and / or team place
Visual integration
A feed from the wiki (with latest updates) is shown on the community home page

A link on the wiki / team place to go to the community
CommunityOverviewSnipWiki copy02_Edit Community copyLotus Quickr 8.1.1
Quickr 8.1.1 introduce integration between Quickr and Lotus Connections. This included the ability to associate a Quickr wiki or team place with a Connections community. The membership of the community (which tends to be more dynamic that membership of team rooms) will be kept automatically synchronized with the membership of the Quickr team room.
Integration with Lotus Connections Activity service
Publish a document from an Activity into a :otus Quickr library
Replace document with link
Benefits:
Centralized content libraries (limit duplication of content)
Advanced document management functions (e.g. versioning)
Lotus Quickr 8.1.1
Additional integation points with Lotus Connections includes the ability to store content in a Connections Activity in a Quickr Team room. Storing the content in Quickr automatically replace the document with a link in the Activity. This enables users to levrage the content services in Quickr (versioning, check-in/out, workflow, etc) to colaborate on the document.
